Chart No. 17

[See Book 3, Chart 17]

FIGURE 2 shows a lateral stretching Polarity contact on the big toe, which can well be used with a slight side bend or pull, away from the foot laterally, to stretch and release that big toe joint, which is supported by the thumb.

Indications: Use this correction pull where the adjustment of the joint of the big toe is not advisable because of soreness, arthritis or extreme stagnation which elicits too severe a reaction. It works very well. It is always best to prepare the patient for a correction where it is needed.

A physiological short leg is found on nearly every patient when the legs are carefully compared. This is a tension symptom of that entire side of the body, according to current obstructions in the wireless circuits of the body. See charts 5, 6, 7 and 8 in book II and chart No. 4 in book IV.

The most inferior and negative central reflex area of the body is found in the big toe. The second joint reflexes to the shoulders and the respiratory mechanism. The transverse arch of the foot is the negative pole of the shoulders.

FIGURE 4 illustrates a move which gives a miraculous reaction from the over-all tension field of the body by releasing the short leg spasm at once. See charts No. 37 and No. 8, figure 4 in book II for the principle of reaction in the over-all Polarity fields. This can be applied to either side of the body and the big toe on that particular side of the body for the short leg release.

TREATMENT: A gentle but quick tap is given to the large joint of the big toe - a little below its center - with the softest part of the operator's hand; namely the cushion below the thumb. The toe is pulled upward and held firmly with one hand while a quick slap clicks the toe joint at the precise place in one instantaneous movement. The speed with which the move is made is very important. It is almost unbelievable what it will do for that short leg at once and a good deal of the correction is often retained.

Use this treatment only on the short leg side for a genearl [general] reaction, unless bunions are present on both feet. In that case, tap the short leg toe last and harder than the other, or repeat, if necessary, to balance them.

Extreme care should be taken with bad arthritic joints and the patient should be prepared for it beforehand, whenever there is much soreness or stagnation in the feet, which is the polarity reflex to a respiratory lock. Proceed with caution. Patients demand quick results, but do not forgive hurts easily. In case of doubt, stretch the toe a little and note the reactions for several visits before making this correction.

This simple correction not only releases the short leg but also stimulates the energies of the central core of the body which have a systemic reaction on the nervous system, respiratory center, and releases the shoulder blades when they are so tight on the ribs that the hands cannot be gotten under for the treatment as shown in chart No. 24 in this book and charts No. 36 and 46 in book II, in addition to being a specific bunion correction.

It would be interesting to observe what this mild shock treatment might do for mental cases.
